Tip Number one - Get a wedding email

For those super organised amongst us, you may already have this sorted!

When we got married, it was super helpful to have a wedding email that we could both access. It meant we had everything all in one place - from invoices, to enquiries and financial details.

It also meant that any wedding advertisements didn't end up building up in our personal emails instead!

Most places will allow you to get another email for free, so we highly recommend it when you start planning your day!

Tip Number two - decide your non-negotiables

When it comes to your celebrations, there are going to be things that are must-haves for your day.

For us, we wanted our memories to be in the hands of someone we trusted, so our photography and videography were high on our list.

Once you have your non-negotiables, you know what areas of your day that you can put your budget towards and what you can skip or miss off your list.

It's super important that you both agree with your decisions, so it may be worth sitting down and planning out your thoughts together! We did this in our local pub!

Tip Number three - Ask your Suppliers

Wedding planning is hard! We know, we've been there! However, as wedding suppliers who have done the marriage-thing themselves, we are at an advantage to both know suppliers that we used for our day, as well as those wonderful people we encounter in this industry.

If you are looking for something or someone specific as part of your day, but are struggling to find them, ask the suppliers you already have. We are always happy to help and point you in the direction of others that may fit your wedding vibe.

(We're always on hand regardless of if you book us or not! Come talk weddings with us!)

Tip Number four - set up a wedding planning account

We used Hitched for our wedding, and we found it super useful, especially for seating plans and receiving RSVPs. There are other places that you can use too!

It helps to have a proper play around with the website and account before you get into sending out your invites, so definitely give yourself some time to work it out!

Once you have your head wrapped around it, it will be an invaluable resource to get you planned and ready for your day!

(And as always, if you need any help with it, just give us a shout! Sophie was a Hitched-pro by the time we were married!)

Tip Number five - don't stress the details

(that aren't important to you)

Honestly, this is probably the key thing we took away from our wedding. Don't stress about how everyone else does it and what tradition says. It's your celebration - do it your way!

For example, you don't need to wait until closer to your date to send Save the Dates - We did it a month after we booked our date.

We sent our invites over a year before our date - We have friends who travel alot and have flexible jobs, so wanted to make sure they had a date in their diary to make it! This isn't normal but we did it anyway.

We didn't use a florist, so we grew our own flowers for our day.

We didn't bother with favours, and tried to reduce our waste as much as possible.

As with Tip Two, once you have your non-negotiables in mind, it makes everything so much easier. Wedding planning is only stressful if you let it, but anything you can do to make the whole process easier, then do it - traditional or otherwise!
